Getting out of your comfort zone is something a lot of people struggle with, me included. There’s something very cosy about staying within your own circle, no matter how small it may be, it’s safe and it’s somewhere not many people are keen on getting out of. It’s something we always get told to do and boy it isn’t easy, but is it a good idea? Yes. To experience life to the fullest you can’t just settle for what’s easiest, you’ll never learn new things or have new exciting experiences to brag about, safe is not exciting. This is something I’ve been trying to do a lot lately and I won’t lie, it’s scary. It’s scary as hell, but where does living in fear get you? The answer is nowhere, you can miss out on so much that life has to offer just because you may be scared. I always hear people saying “I want to do this” and “I want to do that” but they never do out of the fear of being out of their little comfort safety net. Once you’re out of it, it only gets easier and trust me it is so worth it.
Today I thought I’d share with you a few simple ways to jump out of your comfort zone, don’t worry I won’t list terrifying things like jumping out of a plane or anything crazy, starting out small and working your way up is the best way to do anything. My first way is to start up a YouTube channel or a blog or etc. I’ve actually recently relaunched my channel which you can find linked there. This may seem like a minor one but they can open up so many doors and they involve really putting yourself out there to people and showing who you are. A few years ago I never thought I’d be able to do half of what I do now, I was too shy and scared and my comfort zone was just too tiny to involve me ever putting myself and my life in front of thousands of people to see. Starting off with such a small thing will help lead you up to the bigger things rather than diving straight in the deep end (unless that’s something you can do obviously, but if so I applaud you).
Another way to stretch your limits is to take risks, to do things you would never normally think of doing. I have a friend who likes to play casino games like online blackjack and it’s slowly teaching her that taking risks is something in life you need to get used to. Adrenaline is such an amazing thing, and if you choose to play with real money you’ll get plenty. It makes you feel so good and it’s one hundred percent worth it if play and win. Don’t get me wrong, even I’m not a massive adrenaline junkie like some people out there who are just plain out impressively crazy, but I do love the feeling even if it requires me doing things that scare the living hell out of me to actually feel it.
Be spontaneous. This is something I need to work on majorly, but I’m determined to because people who are just seem to live life a lot better. Sticking with your same old routine and being stuck in the same old rut is all well and good if you don’t want that much excitement in your life, but getting out there and doing new things and feeling accomplished and proud of yourself when you’ve actually done them is one of the best feelings. This is probably hands down my favourite way to break out of your comfort zone, maybe the hardest but also the most exciting. Do things you wouldn’t normally do, go wild, and live your life.
